Who is in charge of this Selective Pairing?
Right now Selective Pairing is run by one person, myself. I go by Jesper Jensen. You can find me on twitter at @jesperjensenacc. However, any correspondence through Selective Pairing will also make its way to me. I understand you may be frustrated with the obfuscation efforts I have made, but please be understanding. This undertaking is controversial in nature and I must take some basic precautions to protect my family. I, like many of you, am an otherwise ordinary person with responsibilities and obligations that my online endeavors cannot interfere with.
Why are you doing this?
I am doing this because I have children of my own and I want to make sure I can help them navigate the world of tomorrow. I am a believer in tried and true methods, and this was my best idea on how to reimplement them. I want to enable people like myself to help their kids navigate tomorrow as well.
How secure is this project?
I’ve taken every possible precaution within the short time since this program’s inception to ensure security for both myself and future users. Our emails have end-to-end encryption functionality and I both built this website and host it. I have a vested interest in this project’s security since I would likely be canceled in the event of a breech.
Why do you charge?
Ideally, I would charge nothing. But given the controversial nature of the program, I want to pre-emptively make meddling more difficult. A small charge makes it orders of magnitude more difficult to spam into oblivion and imposes an annoying cost on those maliciously entering the program in an attempt to thwart genuine matches from being made.
When I join the program, how long will it be before you can find a match?
I cannot give a definitive answer. Likelihood of matches will go up as more people join the program, but depending on your specificity, by the laws of probability, it will probably take longer. If I find a family that is mostly close, I will reach out and see if you’d be interested. Also, please understand that this is not my full time job. I do this work by myself on-top of my day job and being (at least I’d like to think so) a good husband and father. Thankfully, this is a program designed to be used many years in advance. So the sooner you enter the better.
Do you plan on making a version of this for single people looking to marry?
Depending on the demand for such a product, it is a possibility. But a matchmaking service has different requirements and needs, something beyond the scope of this project. As of today, I don’t have the bandwidth to run such a service at this time, and I have no plans of creating such a service in the near future.
